Wyalkatchem
This town,45kms. West of Trayning, is the headquarters for an area of 1743sq.kms with a population of 640;main industry is farming.....grains and sheep.Below the Australian Army badge is a brass plaque inscribed "This Memorial is dedicated by the community of Wyalkatchem to the memory of all Australian servicemen and servicewomen and their Allies who paid the supreme sacrifice in the service of the Nation- Lest We Forget" 25th.April,1988,RSL Sub-branch President N.J.Woods,Shire President C.H.R.Reilly. In front,let into the ground,is a square stone on which is a brass plaque which bears the inscription "This Memorial was erected as a Bi-Centennial project and unveiled by Mr.F.Begley,Honorary Freeman of the Shire of Wyalkatchem,25th.April,1988. A time capsule was placed beneath this plaque 2nd.December,1988 by the Shire of Wyalkatchem,Wyalkathem R.S.L.and the Community which is to be opened 2nd.December,2038." The Left hand side of the Memorial commemorates those who fell in World War 2,there are eighteen names. The right hand side commemorates those who fell in World War 1, there are forty names
