Cuballing

 

Situated 16km.North of Narrogin on the Southern H'way this town,today,is only a shadow of it's former self;the Bank and Post Office are closed and now used as private residences although the only other building of any size,the Hotel,is still open.The Memorial commemorates WW1and stands opposite the Bank building in a small park, it is dedicated to the men of Cuballing and Yornaning(a sub-district) and bears 51 names.The Memorial committee decided in April 1917 to build a Memorial of " commanding size and extremely solid in it's construction",the unveiling ceremony was held on November 13th.,1921before a crowd of some 300 people;many arriving by special train from Narrogin. In WW1 Cuballing had the distinction of supplying more volunteers to the armed forces per head of the population than any other town in W.A.
