Sited 138kms. S/East of Perth this town is the administrative centre of an area 1626sq.kms.with a total population of 1016 persons,grains and sheep are the main industries.The Cenotaph stands in a park alongside the Brookton Highway,the park also contains an artillery piece as part of the Memorial. On the East side of the Cenotaph column is a plaque "In memory of these men who gave their lives for us in the Great War 1914 to 1919",nineteen names are shown. On the North and South sides are plaques which bear identical wording "Erected to the memory of these men who gave their lives for us in World War 2,1939-1945";one plaque bears thirteen names and the other four names
