Mullalyup

235kms. South of Perth on the S/W Highway, this town was once the centre of a thriving timber industry mainly concerned with the manufacture of railway sleepers. Logging of the forest ceased many years ago and today the small town and surrounding area is mainly concerned with the tourist industry. The War Memorial is sited alongside the S/W Highway on the Northern side of the Town, amongst those recorded serving in WW1 is a recepient of the Military Medal,L/Cpl.Parmenter W.H.J. who is also shown as being one of the three Mullalyup men killed in action. Above the WW1 Honour Roll is a small plaque recording that the Memorial foundation stone was laid by Florence Parmenter.
