Ravensthorpe
Ravensthorpe is some 532kms.from Perth on the South Coast Highway and was established in the late 1800s following the discovery of gold in the area. Today the town has a population of approx. 400 and,until recent times, was mainly engaged in agriculture,grains and sheep, however the last few years has seen a resurgence in mining activities. The Memorial,of rough dressed granite is located in a small park at the intersection of South Coast Hwy. and the road to Hopetoun and records the names of those who served in WW1, a total of 58 with 13 shown as killed in action and one,J.Blake, awarded the Military Medal. The base stone at the front of the Memorial bears a bronze plaque to the memory of those who served in WW2,Malaya,Korea,Borneo and Vietnam.
