Subiaco

Subiaco is a suburb of Perth located between the City and Fremantle.The Memorial stands on the corner of Rokeby and Hamersley Roads and was built to honour residents who served and died in WW1,the foundation stone was laid by the West Australian Governor,Sir Francis Newdegate on 17th.December 1922 with the unveiling ceremony by the Governor held on November 25th.,1923.,the dedication was by Archbishop Riley. On each of the four sides are marble plaques inscribed with the names of those who fell in WW1,a total of One Hundred and Thirtyfive,including three brothers. Above the plaque that faces the road intersection another plaque has been added to honour those who died in WW2,Seventytwo names are shown.Located near the Foundation Stone is a small metal plaque remembering those who fell in Korea,Malaya,Vietnam and Borneo
