RIVERTON
This small memorial is located on High Road,in the Cannington District,outside the Riverton RSL HQ,the brass plaque reads " Riverton R & S.L dedicated to the memory of all those who gave their lives while serving in the Australian and Allied Forces. November 1993, H.Lowe CD,President.........Lest We Forget". The Riverton sub-branch of the RSL was formed in 1948 but for many years had no premises of their own until 1958 when Mrs.E.E.Hamilton,a keen supporter of the sub-branch and owner of land fronting High Road,donated half an acre as a site for a HQ. A secondhand building was purchased and erected being superseded by a larger structure a few years later. Commercial development along this side of High Road eventually caught up with the RSL site and with the improved land values the sub-Branch was able,in 1987 to build a new HQ as part of the commercial development.
