Mount Hawthorn
Mount Hawthorn is in the Town of Vincent adjacent to and North of the City of Perth. The Memorial, of black polished stone, is located in Axford Park which is the site of the annual Anzac Day ceremony. This park is named in honour of Thomas Leslie Axford VC, MM, Corporal, 16th.Battalion, 4th.Brigade, 4th.Division who was awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicious Bravery and Initiative on the 4th.July,1918 at Vaire and Hamel wood, France.The upper plaque reads:
