Mosman Park

The Shire of Mosman Park is located between Perth and Fremantle on Stirling Highway. The Memorial comprises a brick rotunda in a park clled 'Buckland Hill Memorial Park' in Palmerston Street,the rotunda is approached through entrance gates that bear the park name and up an avenue of honour flanked by pine trees,each tree has a plaque commemorating a fallen soldier of WW1;one plaque records three names of the same family. The pillars on both sides of the entrance have marble tablets attached,the left hand one reads 'These gates were erected by the Buckland Hill RSL Ladies Committee in memory of the men of this District who fought in the Great War - 11/11/34' The tablet on the right hand side reads 'Lest we Forget' Inside the Rotunda are wooden seats around the walls whilst attached to the walls are a number of plaques,two of them refer to WW1and are headed "In memory of those from the Mosman Park District who gave their lives in WW1 1914-1918' a total of ninetyeight names are shown. The plaque commemorating those who fell in WW2 contains fortythree names. The last plaque commemorates those who fell in Korea andVietnam,one name is recorded for each war. Outside are two flagpoles,each bearing a brass plate one inscribed'1914-1918' and the other ,'1939-1945'.
