Kalamunda

Kalamunda is located on the Darling Escarpment some 10km. East of Perth, established in the 1860s as a logging centre it's main industry now is the cultivation of fruit orchards. The War Memorial ( erected 1939 )is located in a corner of Kostera Oval on the corner of Canning and Recreation Rds. and adjacent to the Agricultural Hall. the Memorial bears a number of brass plaques, many of them of recent origin, with the three main, and largest, mounted centrally, the top two refer to WW1 & 2 and apart from the dates are identical in design and wording:

" Erected by the returned soldiers and citizens of darling range road district in proud and Grateful Memory of the men who gave their lives in the

Great War 1914 - 1918 or World War 1939 - 1945

Greater Love Hath No Man "

The lowest central plaque is smaller in size and reads:

" In rememberance of the men and women who gave their lives in subsequent conflicts ..........Presented by Darling Range R.S.L. "

Individual Names are not shown but Honour Boards listing those who served are to be seen in the Agricultural Hall nearby.
