Bayswater

The town is some 8kms from Perth GPO on the main rail line to Midland. The administrative area covers 32 sq.kms. and has a population of 56,000. Situated in Halliday Park the Memorial is located on a terrace above the sports field (lacrosse) and is backed by two half circular terraced rose gardens.The inscription fronting the sports field reads"Erected By The Residents Of Bayswater In Memory Of Her Sons Who Fell In The Great War 1914-18,They Gave their Lives For Their Country" Below this inscription is mounted a stone model of a slouch hat whilst above is a wreath with "Lest We Forget"inscribed within it,on the left and right hand sides are inscribed a total of sixtythree names. At the rear is mounted a brass plate "In Memory Of Those Who Gave Their Lives World War II 1939-45,Korea 1950-53,Malaya 1948-60,Borneo 1962-66,Vietnam 1962-72,Lest We Forget" individual names are not given.
